Brunswick Central Vet Clinic Cannot wait to share the great news with our Kitty Pawrents.

We finally have FIV vaccines back in stock!

Unfortunately, the whole country has suffered through a supply shortage of this very important vaccine for quite some time now (over 12 months. WHOA!!), and Vet clinics were at a point where we were unsure of when to expect their long-awaited return.

Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) is a bloodborne viral infection affecting cats.  The most at risk are outdoor kitties that roam outside their houses and as such are at risk of getting into fights with infected felines.  The virus enters the bloodstream through saliva (deep bite wounds). The condition unfortunately weakens their immune system over time making them more susceptible to everyday viruses, bacteria, and fungi.

The best treatment is prevention, and that is where the FIV vaccination comes into play.  There is a simple blood test that can be done in clinic, to ensure your cat is FIV free, and fit for vaccination.

What do I need to do if my cat was receiving the FIV vaccination prior to the shortage and is now overdue? Great question!  Depending on how far overdue, your cat will either need 2 or 3 boosters to get them back up to their immunity.

Please call the clinic now and speak to one of our friendly staff members about booking your furry friend in for an appointment today!
